Local SEO basics for UK service businesses

Local SEO is about proving relevance, location, trust and usefulness. You want Google and customers to understand what you do, where you work, and why you are a safe choice.

Start with your Google Business Profile

Your Google Business Profile is often the first impression people see. It should have the right category, service areas, opening hours, photos, services, reviews and contact details.

A half-finished profile makes the business feel half-active. A complete profile makes it easier for customers to choose you.

Build pages for services and locations

If you offer bathroom fitting, boiler repair, aesthetics treatments or commercial cleaning, those services deserve their own pages.

Location pages can help too, but they need useful local detail. Thin duplicated pages rarely build trust or rankings.

Make reviews part of the system

Reviews are not just social proof. They help customers compare you and can support local visibility.

Ask consistently, reply properly, and make sure the words customers use reflect the services you want to be found for.

What to fix first

Start with your Google Business Profile and your top three service pages. If those are weak, most local SEO activity has less to stand on.
